I am a M.Sc industrial design engineer and at the moment I am working as an industrial designer for the leading lighting company Slamp Spa in Rome, Italy. I am responsible for the start and completion of design project in the lighting design field including the whole design process starting from a design concept and finalizing the production and assembly of the product. In Slamp new ideas are perceived and realized with the main challenge to create 3D high quality lamps with the use of material in 2D polymer sheets. This limitation during the production of the products, is also the biggest challenge and intriguing component which motivates me as a designer to imagine, try, invent and realize.
I recently completed my master studies in the program of Integrated Product Design in the TUDelft. During my Master studies, I followed several courses such as Concept & Embodiment Design, Packaging and Engineering for sustainable development and I worked on both group and individual projects. While my postgraduate curriculum introduced me to a wide range of subjects, the fields I mostly enjoyed Concept and Embodiment Design,
which fulfill user needs and express values.
Since I have made a concentrated effort to complement my academic work with valuable experience, I completed my master graduation thesis in collaboration with Philips in the Netherlands. During my six month long internship, I was responsible for the completion of a design project, which involved an integrated approach, starting with an abstract brief and finishing with a fully functional prototype. The main objective was to create suitable conditions for working mothers in Kenya, which will enable them to feed their babies with breast milk. More specifically, the topic of the project was to design a solution, which will preserve expressed breast milk under the recommended temperatures until consumption. My motivation to create solutions with positive impact was one of the main reasons to accomplish this project with excellent results and possible investments by Philips.
During the previous years of my masters, I worked as an intern in the design agency of Flex, The Innovation Lab in Delft. Among other tasks, I was responsible for consumer, medical and fully technical products which include research, ideation sessions, sketching, 3D CAD modeling as well as model making and prototyping. In addition, I developed initial as well as detailed concepts and models in the field of packaging design for companies like Unilever, Rituals and AbInbev. My collaboration with Flex / The Innovation lab is still continuing since I am responsible for the development of concepts as a freelancing designer for the company.
